Boykins has expressed interest in playing someday in Cleveland, his hometown. He's expected to opt out of his contract at the end of the season. Akron Beacon Journal
Would I like to see Boyk back in Cleveland? Maybe as a greeter at the Holiday Inn, but not on the Cavs. It's not that I don't like Boykins or his scrappy, chip-on-his-shoulder-about-being-short-enough-to-do-back-flips-under-my-bed type of game. He's definitely an offensive presence. He can shoot the rock and he's got a truckload of heart (cue theme song from Rudy). But watching him play defense against dudes 8 inches taller than him is painful (cue record scratch noise ending uplifting music) and he shoots way too much. And most importantly, he's just another in a long string of Cleveland acquisitions of B-List "stars." File Boyk under C, for Chump, along with Shawn Kemp, Lamond Murray, Larry Hughes, Damon Jones and Danny Ferry, and others, in Cleveland's long and disastrous history of "saviors." Now Boykins off the bench for less than 3 mil/year, that I could go for, but if he's our answer to the point guard problem at 7 mil/year, I will absolutely lose it.
